Brief About Western Mongolia & Gobi

Bayan-Ulgii: Bayan-Ulgii Province, bordering Russia and China, is a place where traditions have been carefully preserved for generations. The local people, especially the Kazakhs, have actively maintained their traditional way of life for centuries. The Kazakhs, the largest ethnic minority in Mongolia, have resided here since the 1800s. They have a remarkable tradition of hunting with trained eagles, a practice celebrated annually at the Golden Eagle Festival. Kazakh is the primary language for many, with Mongolian being a second language or not spoken at all. The Kazakh culture in Bayan-Ölgii is shaped by Islamic traditions.

Gobi: The Mongolia Gobi Desert is a vast and diverse region in Asia. Many people think of it as a lifeless sandy desert, but in reality, only a small portion, about 5% of the total area, is covered by sand dunes. The majority of the Gobi Desert is a mix of steppes, sands, and mountains. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not a barren land; rather, it’s teeming with life. In essence, the Mongolia Gobi Desert is a vibrant and diverse ecosystem, rich in both natural beauty and resources, and it holds a significant place in both paleontological and historical contexts.
