The tallest dunes, in the northwest, reach up to 800 meters. Climbing to the top can be challenging, but the panoramic views of the surrounding desert make it well worth the effort. While here, you’ll also have the chance to ride the endangered two-humped Bactrian camels. It’s a memorable part of the Gobi desert tour experience.

Day 4 Bayanzag

Today, we will be driving to Bayanzag. Also known as the Flaming Cliffs, Bayanzag is famous for its rich history, remarkable dinosaur fossils, and the very first discovery of dinosaur eggs. In fact, this site gained international attention thanks to American explorer Roy Chapman Andrews. He led a series of expeditions here. During one of these journeys, he named the area “Flaming Cliffs.” The red-orange rocks glow brightly, especially at sunset. As we explore, you’ll see the same stunning views that inspired his discovery.

This vibrant display is due to the unique mix of minerals and clay in the rock layers.
