The tour also takes you to the Winter Palace of Bogd Khan, a place full of history and culture.

Overall, this city tour helps you understand Mongolia better by showing you important places and museums. It gives a clear picture of Mongolia’s past. This includes its traditional way of living and the changes it went through during the communist period. So, taking a Ulaanbaatar city tour is a great way to see the best of the city. You can also learn a lot about Mongolia in just one trip.

Brief About Ulaanbaatar

First, let’s talk about geography. Ulaanbaatar is found in the middle-north part of Mongolia, sitting in a valley along the Tuul River. It is surrounded by mountains, including the Bogd Khan Uul mountain to the south, which makes the city’s setting very beautiful.

Next, about the population: Ulaanbaatar is home to about 1.5 million people, which is nearly half of all the people living in Mongolia. This makes it the biggest city in the country by far.

Now, a bit about the city’s history. Ulaanbaatar has a long and interesting past. It began in 1639 as a movable monastery. Over time, it became a fixed town and later, in 1924, it was made the capital of Mongolia.

When it comes to culture, Ulaanbaatar is a place where old traditions meet new ways. On a city tour, you can visit museums and art galleries, and enjoy traditional Mongolian music and dance. This mix shows how Mongolia keeps its heritage alive while growing and changing.

Finally, for transportation, Ulaanbaatar is well connected. You can travel by train or road to nearby countries like Russia and China. The city’s main airport, Chinggis Khaan International Airport, offers flights to many places around the world, making it easy to get in and out of Mongolia.

In short, Ulaanbaatar is a lively city full of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it a great place to visit and explore.

Discover the best of Mongolia on this 4-Day Orkhon Valley and Kharkhorin Tour. Experience stunning landscapes, rich culture, and deep history in just a few days.

Start in Elsen Tasarkhai, the “Mini Gobi.” Ride a camel across golden sand dunes and take in the vast desert views. It’s a perfect introduction to Mongolia’s nomadic life.

Next, head to the Orkhon Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stay with a local nomadic family and learn about their traditional lifestyle. Experience how they raise animals and live with nature.

Then, enjoy a horseback ride through the valley’s wide-open grasslands. It’s a unique way to connect with the land and explore Mongolia’s countryside.

Finally, visit Kharkhorin, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. Explore the Erdene Zuu Monastery and the Kharkhorin Museum, where you can see artifacts from the Mongol Empire.

This 4-Day Orkhon Valley and Kharkhorin Tour is perfect for anyone wanting to experience Mongolia’s landscapes, history, and culture in a short time. It’s an adventure you won’t forget.

Private Orkhon Valley and Kharkhorin Tour

If you’re thinking about booking a private tour instead of joining a group, please take a look at the prices in the ‘Tour Price’ section.
The cost depends on how many people — such as your family or friends — will be coming with you. Check the rate that matches the size of your group.

What Are Standard Ger Camps?

Standard Ger Camps are like hotels, but instead of rooms, you sleep in a Ger. These camps are usually near famous places. A Standard Ger has 2 to 4 single beds, a small table, a stove to keep warm. And sometimes a a shelf or a small sink. There is no bathroom inside the ger. You will use clean toilets and hot showers in another building nearby. There is also a place to eat, and sometimes a small bar or game room.
Some camps have Ensuite Gers. These have a private bathroom inside the ger. If you want this type, please tell us. We can book it for you, but it costs extra.

What Are Ger Guesthouses? ( Nomad’s extra ger)

Some nomadic families living in national parks or tourist areas run small businesses renting ger accommodations to backpackers. This gives you a chance to experience the real nomadic lifestyle up close.

These usually have 4–6 beds and are shared only with your group, not with others. Keep in mind, many nomadic families don’t have formal toilets at their summer homes. Instead, you’ll find simple toilet trenches, often screened on three sides.

Also, most ger guesthouses may not have shower facilities, so be prepared for basic living conditions.

What to Pack for Orkhon Valley and Kharkhorin Tour

Packing the right gear will help you stay comfortable and prepared throughout your 4-day Orkhon Valley and Kharkhorin Tour.
Spend two exciting days exploring the best of Mongolia on this 2-day Semi Gobi and Khustai Tour. Start with the golden dunes and wide-open steppes of the Semi Gobi, where you can ride a camel and enjoy the desert scenery. Then, visit Khustai National Park to see the rare wild Przewalski’s horses up close. Along the way, experience Mongolia’s beautiful landscapes and local culture. This tour is perfect for travelers who want a short but unforgettable adventure.

Private Semi Gobi and Khustai Tour

Start at the world’s largest equestrian statue — the Chinggis Khan Statue Complex.
Private Mongolia short trip 3 days

Private Kharkhorum Tour 4 days
